Albums for the Trump Presidency

Originally, this list was “Albums for Winter,” but I needed to change the list in preparation for the next four years of winter. However, whether you are in tears because you will not be able to see your dying Grandma in Iran, excited for the President to encourage the theft of your surplus value of labor in your midwestern town or a baby boomer ecstatic that your burger will no longer be handed to you by someone with no disposable income or healthcare, this is the list for you.

Lonerism – Tame Impala: A perfect album for the lower or middle class worker who will be further alienated by their work environment. “Apocalypse Dreams” is a great song for the disconnection you as a worker feel from the Bourgeois government continually screwing you over:

Everything is changing

And there’s nothing I can do

My world is turning pages

While I am just sitting here

The droning chords will mimic the next 50 plus years of your life.

Notable tracks: “Nothing That Has Happened So Far Has Been Anything We Could Control,” “Why Won’t They talk to Me?” and “Mind Mischief.”

Dopesmoker – Sleep: The reasoning behind this album is a bit simpler; a lot of devil’s lettuce will be needed to get through the next four years. This hour and a half long, two song, drone metal masterpiece is perfect to “Drop out of life with bong in hand” and, “Follow the Smoke toward the Riff filled Land” to.

However, the tough on crime, lawful citizen might ignore or disgrace this album. This is understandable, though, and the person should be left to their suburban tower.

Notable Tracks: There are only two songs. You have to be somewhat capable of that, at least.

Run the Jewels 3 – Run the Jewels: Killer Mike and El-P have been creating some of the greatest hip-hop of the 2010’s. This album is no exception. Run the Jewels 3 is the most revolutionary-friendly album of 2015 and perfect for those who idealize revolution.

Notable Tracks: “Thieves! (Screamed The Ghost)”, “Oh Mama” and “A Report to the Shareholders / Kill Your Masters”
