Being a music lover comes with big price tags and even bigger decisions. I, for one, enjoy attending concerts and listening to my favorite artists live, but because of the high prices for tickets, I do not always get the chance. Not only do you have to pay for the tickets, but additionally, extra fees, parking, clothing, hotels and flights; if applicable. Therefore, there is much more planning going into the process than just going on the computer and buying a ticket.
For some, a concert can only be a once-in-a-lifetime event and the cheapest ticket should not be over 200 dollars. Due to this reason, in my family, a concert for the four of us is a rare occasion. Having to sit out of a big show and only being able to see it on my phone sucks and should not have to be the direct result of outrageous prices.
One major problem is thieves buying tickets and then reselling them for almost triple the original price. Furthermore, rather than not buying a ticket and letting others who actually want it buy it, people buy out seats and then leave them empty. I realize the individuals who are doing this only want to make money, but taking away an opportunity from someone else should not be the first and easiest option. Additionally, ticket websites need to take steps to fix the problem, letting the resellers continue what they are doing makes their real and loyal customers look for different or alternate options.
It is also wrong for people to paint the idea that the only way to get the whole concert experience is if you are right up against the stage. Even in the nosebleeds of venues, with slightly more affordable tickets, you can still feel a part of the whole experience and not be disappointed with where you are sitting. One of the reasons people go to concerts is to hear the music, and in every seat, the music will be loud enough. So people should not worry about being close and not being able to hear.
These special occurrences should be appreciated by every person who is able to and should not be just for those who can afford 100 dollar costs. The excitement leading up to a concert is like no other and this type of event brings me so much joy. To be able to go and listen to your favorite artist or band should not be a luxury item, it should instead be something where everyone has the same shot at appreciating their special moment.
