As the lights dim and the crowd sits anxious, the tune of “Overtime” starts to play. The stage lights up red and blue and the stadium goes wild.
I first fell in love with Zach Bryan’s music after my older sister introduced me to the song “Something in the Orange.” I immediately loved how his voice sounded and the lyrics of the song, and I quickly became a fan as I listened to more of his music. When I first found out we got tickets to see Bryan’s “The Quittin Time Tour” in Utah in December, I was thrilled. Now, after waiting almost a year for Dec. 7 to see him perform at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, I cannot believe that the night I had been waiting for was over within two hours.
Being able to see one of my favorite artists with my family was an amazing experience. Performing around 21 songs, Bryan’s concert was a night to remember. Some of my favorite songs performed included, “Oklahoma Smokeshow,” “Hey Driver” and “Snow,” not to mention, being able to hear “Something in the Orange” live with my sister. However, the best part of the concert, by far, was the encore. As Bryan walked off the stage, the audience cheered for him to come back out to play one last song. After what seemed like forever, he finally made an appearance and played an extended version of the song “Revival.” It was a great way to end the night, with an uplifting song that had the whole stadium singing.
Another interesting aspect of the concert was how the stage was in the center of the stadium and how Bryan would walk all around so fans on every side of the stage could see him up close.
Although Bryan did not have extravagant outfits, dancers or crazy special effects, himself, his music and his band were enough for me to want to beg my parents to see him live again. Seeing everyone dressed up and enlivened for the night made the stadium buzz with excitement and warmth. “The Quittin Time Tour” was everything I had hoped for and more. I got to hear some of my favorite songs live and I could not have asked for a better experience.
