Nearly a year after Ariana Grande released “eternal sunshine,” “eternal sunshine deluxe: brighter days ahead” was officially dropped on March 28, 2025. With a total of 19 songs and listening time of 55 minutes, this album is perfect for getting ready on a calm spring morning.
Growing up, I loved dancing and singing to Ariana Grande songs with a fast beat and catchy lyrics. However, this album, which contained five completely new songs, seemed to contrast from the music that I once knew due to slower tempos, a lighter-sounding voice and lyrics with different themes.
To me, it seemed that since Grande changed her hair last year from black to blonde, many of her songs began to encapsulate positive energy and calming tones. However, the beat and impressive vocals from “twilight zone,” one of my favorites from the new album, heavily reminded me of older hits such as “One Last Time”. Max Martin, who has produced some of Grande’s biggest hits in the past, including “Break Free”, also produced five of the brand new songs featured on this album.
The album cover shows Grande levitating towards a bright light in the sky, which was honestly how I felt listening to her angelic vocals, especially in the extended version of “intro (end of the world)”. The most popular song on “eternal sunshine” is “we can’t be friends (wait for your love)”, which is among Ariana Grande’s most streamed songs. However, my personal favorite is “Hampstead” because I love the piano in the background and it reminds me of a coffee shop on a rainy day.
Overall, I highly recommend this album if you are in the mood to try out something different than the classic Ariana Grande songs you remember from 2018. Although these songs may have a different feel than her old persona, the lyrics are empowering and will lead you to “brighter days ahead.”
