Tyler the Creator’s “CHROMOKOPIA” fills the “Noid”

“Daring, I” kept falling in love with Tyler the Creator’s seventh studio album, “CHROMOKOPIA.” This album has 14 songs, plays for 54 minutes and features other famous artists like Daniel Caesar and GloRilla.

Tyler the Creator’s hands-on role in the development of every creative project he releases is admirable. Tyler writes and produces each one of his songs, which creates an authentic and organic feeling. The listener can relate to Tyler the Creator’s vulnerability and the honesty he communicates through his expertly written lyrics.

Every album by Tyler the Creator has a unique production that tells a different story. “CHROMOKOPIA” tells Tyler the Creator’s experience as he struggles with the responsibilities that accompany adulthood. Since Tyler the Creator is now 33-years-old, the subject matters of his songs have matured alongside him, which Tyler the Creator explores in “CHROMOKOPIA.” For example, a theme that often presents itself is Tyler’s struggle with fame.

My favorite songs off the album were “Darling, I” and “Hey Jane.” I particularly loved the upbeat production and catchy lyrics of both these songs, but there were no songs I would go out of my way to avoid. As a whole, the album is strong and cohesive as each song fades into the next seamlessly. My favorite feature on the album was GoRilla, who appears on “Sticky,” because she added energy to the fun track.

What makes Tyler the Creator stand out as one of the greatest artists of our generation is his attention to detail in his curation of art. Every witty lyric and carefully crafted music video has cemented “CHROMOKOPIA” as a masterpiece.

This album is definitely worth listening to, as it illuminates Tyler the Creator’s growth as an artist. People may be discouraged to listen to Tyler the Creator due to controversial lyrics and disturbing visual elements of earlier works, but I would advise any skeptic to listen regardless, because this album is phenomenal. Unfortunately, I did not get tickets to this album’s tour yet, but I hope to still be able to attend. “CHROMAKOPIA”: The World Tour starts on Feb. 4, and currently has 64 show dates ranging until Sept. 4, 2025.
