Ella Langley, a hybrid pop and country musician, released her sophomore album, “Dandelion,” on April 10. This release will have you “Loving Life Again” from the “Bottom Of Your Boots,” which are the names of a few of the 18 songs in the album, playing for a total of 56 minutes.
Over the past year, Langley has experienced virality on multiple social media platforms, with over 3.2 million followers on Instagram and 3 million on TikTok. Her combined total of likes for these two apps alone is over 100 million, solidifying her as a popular upcoming artist.
On my initial listen, the standout tracks to me were: “Choosin’ Texas,” “We Know Us,” “Dandelion,” “Most Good Things Do” and “Be Her.” There were no songs from the release that I did not like or would not listen to again. Even though the songs are similar in production and composition, the sound of the album does not become redundant and repetitive.
I believe this album to be a great addition to the rest of her work, which I would be left “Broken” without. I am an avid listener of country music. One of her musical influences, Miranda Lambert, was featured on the album’s sixteenth track, “Butterfly Season,” and contributed to songwriting, as well as executive producing.
“Dandelion” is a perfect release to sing when you are having “You & Me Time” with friends or even to cry when you are not on “Speaking Terms” because it was a “Last Call For Us.” Every release from the album communicates Langley’s personal experiences, growth and feelings. I appreciate how vulnerable Langley was throughout this album; the raw emotion displayed through each song creates a sense of relatability for the listener.
One aspect of the album that truly stands out to me is the witty songwriting. I love how Langley writes her own songs, unlike the popular trend many famous and successful artists of today follow by having ghostwriters instead.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this record and would strongly recommend it to fans of upbeat pop and catchy country. This album is not only easy to listen to but also has solidified Langley as one of my favorite newer country artists.
