David Anthony Burke’s [stage name: D4VD] increasingly widespread reputation of being a musical superstar in the industry was stopped shortly after the discovery of his alleged crimes regarding first-degree abuse, sexual assault and mutilation of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, with the corpse being found in his Tesla Model X at a tow yard in Hollywood, Los Angeles.
Known for songs such as “Romantic Homicide” and “Feel It”, D4VD is an American singer-songwriter and Twitch streamer who began his music career in 2021, making music on his phone at the age of 16.
He gained popularity from releasing his songs “Here With Me” and “Romantic Homicide” in 2022, which kickstarted his massive fame, and has released two EPs since then, alongside his song feature in the hit TV-show “Invincible.”
Investigative reports showed that Burke first made contact with Celeste online when she was only 11 years old. Authorities stated that Burke used his fame to groom her, leading to ongoing physical and sexual abuse. The situation escalated in early 2025 when Celeste allegedly threatened to go public about the abuse, which prosecutors pointed to as the main motive behind her murder.
Digital evidence and location data confirmed that Celeste was at Burke’s residence in April 2025, which was the last time she was seen alive, eventually leading to his arrest in April 2026. After his arrest, Burke hired a private attorney to represent him in court; however he recently changed his representation to a Public Defender.
As of Sept. 22, Burke has pleaded not guilty to all charges. During a preliminary hearing, prosecutors introduced text messages, physical evidence and forensic records that led the judge to rule that there was sufficient evidence to proceed to trial. Burke remains held without bail as court proceedings continue, and will have his final hearing on January 11, 2027.
