News is buzzing about Adele, one of the most popular and famous singers ever to exist, postponing her Las Vegas residency. I have loved Adele since before I can even remember, and I grew up on “Chasing Pavements” and “Make You Feel My Love.” So, when the album “30” came out November 19, 2021, I was obviously excited, even more so when she announced a Las Vegas residency at Caesars Palace. I spent a lot of money in order to attend the concert. Looking past the stressful ticket purchasing and over-complicated process as a whole, I was extremely excited to have gotten tickets on April 15, the second to last show.
Just a day before the first concert on Jan. 24, Adele announced she would be postponing the tour. I was understandably disappointed. Her reasons were that the show was not ready and needed more time. She gave the opportunity for refunds, but no rescheduled dates for the shows. At that point, I was bummed, but not that frustrated. She gave us until Feb. 19 to make a refund request.
However, Adele failed to provide fans updates, which was the most disappointing part. On the Graham Norton Show two weeks later, she mentioned that the tour would happen this year, which is nice, but still, only something small, directed to an audience of people who would most likely not attend the residency and several weeks later, it felt underwhelming and failed to meet the desired effect. Overall, I still love Adele’s music, but I am incredibly disappointed about how she chooses to handle this; I do look forward to the rescheduled dates in the future whenever they come.
