On Sept. 15 at around 3:40 p.m. a baby died of cardiac arrest near Westlake Elementary School.
Emergency responders answered a call, receiving reports of a baby experiencing cardiac arrest near Westlake Elementary School, along Potrero Road. Ventura County Sheriff ’s Office and The Ventura County Fire Department arrived immediately to respond, the Acorn reported.
First responders immediately administered emergency medical care to the infant. Authorities later clarified to the district and to families that the infant was not enrolled as a student at the elementary school. The Acorn reported that the district sent out a notice stating that the child was not a student enrolled in the school, but a community member who was brought to campus.
Following the intensive efforts, paramedics transported the patient via ambulance to the Los Robles Regional Medical Center. The child was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The sheriff office Major Crimes Unit is investigating the case to determine the cause. Further details are withheld with respect to the family.
