Local healthcare businesses keep Newbury Park residents flourishing

Newbury Park has countless valuable assets to offer its residents. One of the shining stars is the local healthcare business scattered throughout our community. Not only are these businesses necessary, they go above and beyond with their dedication and personable relationships with their patients.

In the heart of Newbury Park, Ryan Hodges, a local orthodontist located off Micheal Dr., values doctor-patient relationships above all else. “I value the patients, the patients that enjoy the result and the process. The thing is, I don’t just don’t want people to enjoy the end result. I want them to enjoy as much as possible the process of getting to the end result. So we try to make it a good experience, not just a good end,” Hodges said. By fostering these deep relationships with his patients, Hodges hopes to establish foundations of trust that earn him a renowned reputation.

Another beloved business is Bar-Zion’s Children’s Dental Office. Serving children across the whole first phase of their life, they provide a supportive and loving environment for families to receive top-tier dental care. Many employees at this office work in multiple areas of the practice, such as Jessica Yslas, who works as both a front office receptionist and an oral hygienist in the back office. Both areas of work are critical to the office’s efficient and professional care. In the front, Yslas schedules appointments with clients, verifies important information such as insurance, and greets families as they enter. When she works in the back office cleaning teeth and performing X-rays, she said, “I’m just overcoming kids’ fears with dental and making them comfortable. When they first come in, they’re very apprehensive and scared. Most of the time you’re not able to do anything. Then once they get to know you, or they ask for you specifically, they’re comfortable with you,” Yslas said. Yslas loves being able to work with kids, who are “better than adults,” Yslas said.

Nearby in Thousand Oaks is Maximized Life Chiropractic, run by David Diehl and his staff, whose ultimate goal is to educate and to connect with their patients. “The word doctor means teacher, and so my job is to teach people about the human body. I don’t believe chiropractic cures anything, but I believe that every individual has the power to heal. If the messages from the brain can get to the body and body to the brain, and we remove interferences, the body can work well together,” Diehl said. Diehl notes that education is a pillar of success on the route to healing, regardless of the circumstances the human body is facing. “We’ve helped so many people, but my focus is on the ones we need to help. So it’s just one patient at a time, and I feel that so little percentage of the people understand what we do here. I have a big mission to help everybody in Southern California,” Diehl said.

With so much being poured into the community, Hodges finds that the outpour of his business goes beyond medical support. “When you help someone get a better smile, it can actually change a lot about their confidence and everything else,” Hodges said.
