After leaking his now well-known song, “Too Sweet,” on the social media app, TikTok, Hozier dropped his third studio album, “Unreal Unearth: Unheard” on March 22, 2024.
The artist is known for his poetic lyrics and raw music that causes fans
and listeners to feel a wave of emotions, good and bad. His latest album
was definitely a rollercoaster of emotions, starting with the artist releasing multiple singles and an EP to give a taste of “Unreal Unearth: Unheard” prior to dropping the full album.
Starting with the first two songs, “De Selby Part 1” and “De Selby Part 2,” the songs appear to tie into each other. At first I felt an overwhelming urge to cry caused by his lyrics and perfectly played violin strings. The second part of the song switched to a very upbeat track with catchy lyrics. Continuing the patterns of upbeat tracks, Hozier’s “First Time,” and “Francesca,” were full of immense imagery and incredible vocals that can transcend his fan and listeners to a completely different place. Although I loved these tracks, my
personal favorite, “Unknown/ Nth,” was first released as a single but was also placed on the new album. This track was a perfect mix of a calming aroma with catchy lyrics that gave a look into the heart and soul of Hozier.
Once again, the artist continues to prove himself as the lyrical genius
fans first knew him as when he dropped his most famous song, “Take
me to Church,” with over 2 million listeners. His first album, “Hozier,”
represented air, his second album, “Wasteland, Baby!” represented water, and his newest album, “Unreal Unearth: Unheard,” represents earth. The artists’ ability to define the differences leaves me in complete awe and fans can only imagine the way he will represent the element of fire in the next album to come.
