Krispy Kreme serves as the symbol of happiness for many people, and now that happiness is closer to us. A new Krispy Kreme store opened on Sept. 27 on Riverpark Blvd in Oxnard. It is a 24 hour drive-through and walk-in store, with friendly workers contributing to the radiant atmosphere. Although Oxnard is a little bit of a drive from Newbury Park, I think it’s worth it. Prior to the Oxnard store, the closest Krispy Kreme was in Santa Monica. I visited the Oxnard store the day after the grand opening, and both the drive-through line and walk-in lines were lengthy. Considering how delicious a Krispy Kreme donut is, I doubt lines will be shortening any time soon. As I waited in line, I watched groups of freshly baked donuts travel through a pool of hot glaze. Coming in rows of ten, the donuts flop into the a pile of sugar and make their way down to the workers. Watching the process over and over again was such an enticing and satisfying experience. It made me forget about my aching feet and craving stomach. Simple pleasures in life like this are vital to our existence, and I highly recommend visiting Krispy Kreme if you haven’t already. A bite into the sugary battered donut will make you reminisce your childhood, and you’ll likely forget you waited thirty-five minutes for a donut.
