Along with the new year, new lockers have taken hold on the campus. Recently, the north side of the A and B buildings have been updated with new lockers. Students were excited for the new addition to the campus.
The school’s previous principal, Mrs. Wong, did a donation drive for new lockers several years ago, according to Mr. Eby. The funds raised went to the update.
A few complications have emerged due to the addition of the new lockers. Mr. Eby explained that the locker company installed the lockers in the wrong order which led to a mix up in the combinations and locker assignments of students in the area. It was the company’s mistake, so the school did not have to pay extra for them to be fixed.
Derek Henry, junior, is happy with the update. At the beginning it was struggle because he “didn’t get the locker codes” for a couple of weeks. Henry uses his locker daily between his classes and during the weeks of locker installation he was required to carry his books everywhere.
Now, his locker has been returned to the original place, but with a different combination. Mr. Eby alluded to this issue, stating that there was some problems identifying the combinations and assigning either new or using the old combinations on the lockers.
Eby says they still have one locker which isn’t opening with the the new or old combinations. “We’re working on it,” Eby says. For now, the locker update is a welcome change to the school campus. “Hopefully over the next four years we will be able to [install new lockers] through the whole school,” Eby says.
