On Sept. 30, yet another attack occurred on the Planned Parenthood health institute, this time in Thousand Oaks on Hillcrest. According to a Ventura County police report, “investigators determined an unknown suspect wearing clothing to protect his identity crudely threw a large piece of masonry through a window on the south side of the building.” After the suspect threw the object through the window, he intentionally lit a fire in the building using an unidentified chemical which did little damage as the sprinkler system was triggered soon after.
“I think somebody is angry at Planned Parenthood and they wanted everyone to know about it,” Lorena Caulfield, health teacher, said.
The fire was put out quickly, yet several local community members have lashed out negatively against the original act of violence. “I actually live pretty close to it, and it is pretty scary,” Misa Nguyen, sophomore said. “Why can’t we coexist and not do mean things to each other?”
The local Planned Parenthood has recovered from the water damage caused by the incident, and has reopened in full function.
